FINALLY a case of lupus!

I am typing this entry from my hospital bed. I am wardriving fucking Vanderbilt Hospital. This is not to say I've hacked their mednet; I haven't. But I have been rolling around here in a wheelchair with a laptop on my, well, lap, scanning WAP's. I'll be home soon. I managed to NOT have to have surgery after all. On the other hand, I will be on intravenous nutrition for the forseeable future. That means I cannot eat. Anything. Until further notice.
This is going to suck rather mightily.

Here we go again. Doctor's office called. My latest CT scans show the abcess isn't clearing like they hoped, and they want me in again. Five days, they said. There will be surgery involved, this time. Partly to clean out the abcess, but also to repair a fistula that they think caused the abcess in the first place. Also, I will be going on IV-nutrition. So nothing for me to eat for a while. This Buh-Lows.
Ah well. It's not an emergency, and I'm not an invalid, and it's not like they're going to do a resection or a colostomy.

So today we all went to Montgomery Bell park for a picnic, which was cool. But as we were walking along the lake shore, we came across a pack of fishing people, one of whom had accidentally caught a red-eared box turtle with his hook. He cut the line and was releasing it back to the water. With the hook in. I couldn't stand to see him like that, so I picked him up, had Robin hold him, and (eventually, after some fussiness on the part of the turtle and finagling on mine) I extracted the hook from his lower jaw, and released him back into the lake. Now he won't have to live out his life with a hook in his mouth, just a scar and a memory of some scary but well-meaning giants.

-levitation: If I had just one superpower, I'd want this to be it. I want to fly.
-katamari: Love the game, simple as that. Love love love.
-david bowie: This is a holdover interest from when I was dating Michelle. He's a helluva singer/songwriter, and apparently a shrewd businessman too.
-evil: A pasttime of mine. Not in the truly wicked, poison-the-homeless-shelter's-thanksgiving-dinner kind of way, just as between friends. Latest example: Getting someone with a known addictive personality started playing City of Heroes/Villains.
-cooking: I love food. Making AND eating it. I enjoy the art of creating a thing that can nourish the body and soul.
-scifi: Science Fiction. One of my longest standing and deepest geekdoms. From way back when Star Wars was still just three movies on home-taped VHS and Star Trek: The Next Generation was on its first run, through the advent of the Sentai TV shows (power rangers, technically scifi), through to Dune, DS9, and eventually certain of the Anime titles that I watch. (Akira, Ghost in the Shell.)

So I ended up just staying the weekend en suite at the hospital. But I have to go back for outpatient procedure some time this week. Bleh.

Doctor wants me admitted again. Fucking abcess in my abdomen came back AGAIN. No, I don't know how long I'll be, but last time this happened it was about 5 days. Ooooh, am I pissed. I was NOT planning on missing this weekend. We were gonna go play Laserquest, damn it all.

It's life, Jim. But not as we know or understand it.

So yesterday was my first Father's Day, which was pretty freaking cool.
Saturday Uncle Scot and Aunt Diane came up with my cousins Morgan and Victoria, and my brother Matthew came with his girlfriend and my dad, and all of us plus Jessika and baby Hunter went to Cracker Barrel for dinner. Good food was had, baby was passed around, and there was much cooing and "Awww."
And yesterday I took Dad to dinner. Fulins. I had sesame chicken, he had the sashimi. Life is good.
